Everyone says that judging people by first impressions is wrong. But sometimes, there is so much you pick up about a person in a first meeting. For example, their body language. The way they carry themselves makes several statements about their self-esteem, their interest, and their attitude. Next, there is their eye contact. Those who are very insecure will not give people eye contact. People who are confidant, and sincere, will look you right in the eye without gazing uncomfortably around their surroundings and such. This definitely does not cover all that there is to a person, but it gives someone a good head start on what type of a person they are dealing with. Oh, and that's where shy people have a disadvantage, because the lacking of eye contact and body language that expresses confidance and interest is a turn-off to start with. Oh, and have any of you ever met someone and known right away, even by the first glance, that they were the type of person you like? I've never experienced love at first sight (I don't think anyone can really LOVE at first sight, but then again, I am still young and it might happen to me later) but I have experienced meeting someone and on the first day knowing that they were going to become a dear friend to me. Let's see, my best friend Lisa is one of them. I knew I would be friends with her the moment I met her. I knew, also, right away that she loved to put on a special image for everyone else. She plays a role all the time, and I think that's something anyone can pick up on the first meeting. Next, is my good friend, Erica. The day I met her, the first dayof sixth grade, I knew that she was someone special. We became very close friends very quickly after that. Oh, and there's my fantastic friend, Malvin. The first time I really met him was at my friend, Katrina's house. And after one day I knew that he was awesome. Malvin is one of the most innocent people I've ever met. He doesn't sit there and expect the worst of people like so many others. He didn't have caniving eyes, and he was very, very warm and open. I can't begin to tell you all of the times I've had this happen, but those were some of the big ones with people who ended up playing large roles in my life. Anyway, I think that's a very interesting thing: reading people by their eyes, body language, and their smile. Oh yeah, smile's another big one. Some people never smile. Others smile all the time. Sometimes the smiles are feigned, and sometimes the smiles are sincere and warm. It's very interesting, very interesting indeed. :-)

Eyes
all around me
All I see is eyes
Staring straight at me
Judging, contemptuous eyes
Glowering at me
Some horrifically sadistic eyes
Plotting to wound me
I search for happy eyes
That send sunshine warmth all through me
Understanding, compassionate eyes
That can make connections with me
But now all I see is cold eyes
Freezing, and penetrating me
And even though those horrific eyes
Seem to try to harm me
Regardless of all those eyes
I am still me
