Uhhhhhhhhhh **crawls into a hole and dies** Guess what? It's horrible! I'm a terrible person!
Last night, I was driving home from Annie's house. It was eleven thirty at night, and one of my favorite songs was playing. So I decided to drive the long way, so I could listen to the song--it didn't occur to me, of course, to just drive the short way and sit in my driveway with the radio still playing so I could finish listening to the song. No siree. Now, I sure wish it did.
I was driving up Pinyon, one of the little streets in my neighborhood. I wasn't going that fast, probably twenty or so miles per hour. And all of a sudden, there was a doggie in front of me! I mean--RIGHT in front of me. As in two feet max. She was so hard to see, since she was a black lab. Anyway, I screamed, heard a THUMP, and pulled over right away.
The dog was nowhere to be found. She must have run away, considering that getting hit by a car just might be a little scary. But there was another dog that came up to me, a yellow lab, wagging his tail excitedly. He was soooo sweet. I knew now who the dog I'd hit was. The yellow lab lived at the house exactly to my right, and he was out--that meant that there other dog, a black lab, was too. Her name was Josie, and I hope to God that she's okay.
I went up to their door and rang the bell--it was 11:30 at night, but I'd personally want to be woken up if someone hit my dog, too. No one answered the door. I'm afraid the family might be out of town.
Without the slightest clue on what I should do, I grabbed a flashlight out of my car and walked up and down the street looking for Josie. I couldn't find her. My next option was to find the neighborhood police man, Perry. I drove to the neighborhood beach (A lake beach, considering it's Colorado, not an ocean beach) found Perry, and asked him what I should do. He looked at my car, noting that there was no damage, and said that the dog was probably fine--she'd probably run away from being scared, but would go home on her own once she got her wits together.
I've tried reaching the family, but I haven't had any luck. I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IF JOSIE IS OKAY! What if she's seriously hurt? What if she ran somewhere and died? If kids throwing a snowball and hitting a man in the head can kill him, a car at twenty miles an hour can most certainly kill a dog.
WHAT?! TO?! DO?!!!!! I don't know! Josie's family should answer the phone!!!
